Saïd Tichiti & Chalaban – New Music “Jarama”
Saïd Tichiti has been making music for most of his life. Born in Morocco, he’s been living in Hungary for 25 years, resulting in a musical amalgam bringing together North African rhythms in the Gnawa tradition, with Amazigh and Hassani influences. The Baltic region has rich musical traditions which come into the mix with Hungarian inspirations and musicians. The band Chalaban has made 6 albums prior to this new one.
The new record is a 4-Track EP Jarama which exemplifies what inspires Saïd Tichiti. In the Gnawa tradition musical happenings go on for days with a single healing focus. This EP offers a sampling of the vibe and presence Saïd is exploring. To get the full experience one has to go to Budapest to see them live, or catch them on tour.
