Dr. Alexis Peterson, Jon Kelley – Traumatic Brain Injury
During the holiday season people get new toys, engage in winter sports, and party; all activities which can lead to injury. This episode is intended to help people understand and prevent Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), a sort of “TBI 101.”
Dr. Alexis Peterson works at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as a researcher. She is currently working on the issue of TBI. Dr. Peterson gives us a basic tutorial in TBI, what it is, who gets it and how, what to do about it and what to expect regarding treatment and recovery.
Jon Kelley is a former Navy Corpsman who shares some of his personal story about TBI in his life.
