David Howard hails from New Haven, Connecticut, where he grew up inspired by music at home, musicians he met through his Dad, fantastic players who came through town or were part of the local music scene. David’s primary instrument is guitar though he also plays piano. He composes and interprets standards and other people’s compositions. David just retired after 35 years teaching at Berklee College of Music in Boston.
David’s new record is Next. Written and created during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown of 2020, this collection of music expresses the emotions of David and the other players. It’s a satisfying journey through emotions about what, for many, has been a difficult experience.
Baruch and David talk about New Haven, music, composition, and David shares a lot of his internal experience as a musician.
