Thomas Muhammad – Filmmaker – Malcolm X: An Overwhelming Influence on the Black Power Movement!
In 2017 Thomas Muhammad produced a film Malcolm X: An Overwhelming Influence on the Black Power Movement! The film is a brilliant and sensitive telling of the story of one of the United States’ most significant human rights activists. Through interviews with family and friends of Malcolm, the film tells the story of Malcolm Little’s childhood and young adulthood, and how he eventually became Malcolm X.
Long portrayed in the US media as the epitome of the “scary black man”, Malcolm’s message has been obscured and distorted at times, but the integrity of his mission, human rights for all people, lives on!
Brother Thomas and Baruch discuss the film, the message, and Malcolm the man.
Festivals/Awards for the Malcolm X movie: Pan African Film Festival; African Diaspora International Film Festival; 10th Annual Black Panther Party for Self Defense Film Festival; the 53rd Annual Selma Jubilee Film Festival, among others.
