Green Mtn. Teen Institute
The Green Mtn. Teen Institutes, or GMTI, were a series of week long workshops for high school students that were held in Vermont from the mid 1980s through the 1990s. The model was based in Primary Prevention, and included a variety of leadership skill building opportunities, and community. We’ll hear from alumni of GMTI about what it meant to them, and how their lives were effected.

I attended GMTI in 1989 and 1990. It was such a blast from the past hearing Lean on Me. <3
Hi I was part of this in 1983. Which was held at Rock Point in Burlington
It was awesome.
I attended GMTI in 1993. Probably saved my life.
I attended in 1987ish and knew I wanted to do something supporting youth voice professionally from that point on. It took some time, but I have now been leading youth voice work in some of the nation’s largest school districts for the past 10+ years. Last evening one of my students asked me how I got started and I spoke about how impactful GMTI was in my personal leadership journey. Thank you to all involved that made this happen!
